Tip Tip Tip

Tip Tip Tip

by Trey Conner and Richard Doyle.

…the on-line, conscious “rider” of the ego/I has only 1/500,000 of the processing capability of the off-line “elephant” which does 99.99% of the operation of the body “all by itself” (Gary Weber Evolving Beyond Thought, p. 54)

The cunning counterfeit of reality, revealed as such when authentic reality breaks through—like the “tip tip” of the branch blowing against the window in Finnegans Wake during Earwicker’s dream. (PKD, Exegesis 50:101)

It’s no secret that there is a secret world harbored within our own. Historian Peter Galison reckons that the classified universe of knowledge is a good deal larger than the unclassified one. And he would probably know! So let’s get that the hizzy out of the way with the elephant in the room: Appearance is not reality. On both the microlevel—our own experiences—and the macrolevel—the larger scale collective of our experiences—there’s more secret knowledge than public knowledge. Consensus reality is therefore only a fragment of what is, Carl Sagan’s pale blue dot against the backdrop of cosmically scaled Reality, which includes at least the classified and unclassified version of same, offline and online processing of consciousness.

In our epigraph, Gary Weber reminds us that even this “tip tip” is only the tip of the consciousness iceberg, with the vast majority of our experience taking place offline from our “I”, even as it convinces itself, as if in a dream, that the waking state is all there is to reality.

Weber, Ramana Maharshi and PKD all tell us therefore to behold the dream that we know anything more than 1/500,00th of What Is, and observe the difference between apparent reality and our actual experience of it. Ascend to the cloud of unknowing! Find your inner secret knowledge, hidden in plain sight. PKD compares it to the “tip tip” of Entwhistle’s dream, a sequence in Joyce’s Finnegans Woke in which a higher scaled and therefore more authentic reality intrudes on dreamland through the telegraphic rhythm of a tree branch tapping on the window. “Tip Tip.” Knock knock. Who’s there?

For PKD, that “knock knock” is J0yce’s onomatopoeic wake up call right there in the Wake, “tip tip” now relayed to us by PKD in his epic grapple with authentic reality in his much maligned The Exegesis. Here’s another tip: Metan01@ hereby knocks on your dream door and says “Who’s there?” before you can even lift an eyelid. It’s no secret!

It’s no secret, how strong my love is for you
It’s no secret, when I tell you what I’m gonna do

‘Cause I love you, yes I love you
It’s no secret, everybody knows how I feel
It’s no secret, when I say my love is real
‘Cause I love you, yes I love you
It’s no secret, when you got me jumping up and down
It’s no secret, ’cause my heart is chained and bound
I love you, yes I love you, yeah
It’s no secret, everybody knows how I feel
As I get older the years they get heavy for you
Oh is it any wonder why I feel that my whole life is through
Yeah, when I stop feeling how strong my love is for you
Oh, know I’ll be empty wanting your love like I do
It’s no secret, no, when you got me jumping up and down
It’s no secret, ’cause my heart is chained and bound
I love you, yes I love you, yeah
It’s no secret, no, everybody knows how I feel
It’s no secret, no, everybody knows how I feel, yeah
It’s no secret, yeah

With a nip nippy nip and a trip trippy trip so airy. For their heart’s right there. Tip.
